Job description

Oracle Linux Administrator is going to perform systems management in conjunction with Oracle Linux systems administration, database, application and networking teams. Key activities will include OS patch management, systems architecture & design and installation, systems support and maintenance in Oracle Cloud (OCI) and On-Prem Infrastructure and Other Cloud Platforms like AWS, Azure.

Location: 100% remote

Employment Terms: Full-time employee

Job Requirements:

  • Intermediate to advanced level skillset in Oracle Cloud (OCI) or Other Cloud platforms
  • Intermediate to advanced level Oracle Linux (or similar) systems administration (v6, v7, v8) day-to-day operational activities
  • Install and configure servers and related program products and support tools
  • Install operating system patches as supplied by the OEM in coordination with database administrator and the applications support staff.
  • Install and Support Virtualization products - i.e. KVM, OLVM, Oracle VM
  • Knowledge in Oracle ZFS storage appliance (or similar)
  • Support automates processes and maintain the application and OS environments.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively, both orally and in writing.

Required Skillset:

  • Minimum of 5-10 + years of experience in Oracle LINUX Administration, system software installation, customization and support in Oracle Cloud (OCI) and On-Prem Infrastructure.
  • Experience with Virtualization Technologies (KVM, OVMM, Oracle PCA)
  • Experience with Storage and backup technologies

Preferred Skillset:

  • Experience with Cloud technologies ( OCI, AWS, Azure)
  • Experience with KVM and Oracle VM, Oracle ZFS storage
  • Experience with Oracle Engineered Systems (ODA, Oracle Exa, PCA and ExaCS).
  • Experience with Shell scripting.

Additional Skillset:

  • Oracle Solaris, LDOM and Zones
  • VMWare
  • Backup and Recovery tools

Education Required:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Business Information Systems, or Computer Information Systems or equivalent work experience. 6+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination and experience
