Job description

The Senior Contract Administrator is responsible for assisting the Contracts Manager with the administration of an awarded Contract.  The administrators take part in meetings, corresponding with the customer on all contractual matters, making changes, corrections, or adjustments as required, within the provisions of the contracts. Responsible for assuring that the company enters into a viable Contract, and both the company and customer comply with the provisions of the Contract, which also entails protecting income and revenue and whenever possible avoiding disputes.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Monitors the day-to-day operations of project specific departmental functions, including but not limited to schedules, logs and correspondence.
  • Manages the proper coordination of various types of agreements and other contract/legal documents with accounting, legal, program management and other organizations as necessary in accordance with policy.
  • Review bids and/or change order proposals for conformity to contract requirements and may establish guidelines to identify changes in the scope of work.
  • Facilitates effective implementation of contract responsibilities with internal and external customers to achieve operational and financial objectives.
  • Manages the process for updating contract information in contract’s database ensuring all data is current and complete.
  • Works closely with management at the project and/or group level to coordinate work changes that could influence the prime contract.
  • Works with the Contracts Manager to advise management of contractual rights and obligations and provides interpretations of contract terms and conditions of assigned contracts.
  • Works under limited supervision.
  • Negotiates proposals, contract modifications, and agreements as required within the limits of authority as specified in the company policy.
  • Monitors performance, funding, and payments on assigned contracts.  Notifies upper management and Program Management of potential non-compliance and other problems that could have an adverse impact to the company.
  • Completed work is reviewed for achievement of desired results.
  • Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in an associated discipline. 
  • 6+ years of experience in contract administration or 10+ years of work experience in contract administration, construction, engineering, law, scheduling, cost, materials, procurement and/or business development.  
  • Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement (DFARS), NASA Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement (NFS), and related federal and state legislation and regulations.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Knowledge of the Service Contract Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and Truthful Cost or Pricing Data Act. 
  • Excellent oral and written communications.
  • Effective interpersonal skills. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
