GE Digital Grid Software partners with electric grid utilities to deliver mission critical monitoring, analysis, and control system software worldwide and is seeking an Enterprise Solution Architect that will serve as a Chief Technologist Advisor to our prospects and customers. Seeking stellar interpersonal communicator ready to help our prospects and customers understand our robust power system management offerings.
 

Responsible for external facing consultation on highly complex software opportunities that require in-depth domain knowledge or two or more specialized architecture areas. Pursues activities and processes that help the sales organization achieve business objectives. High levels of Commercial judgment are required to achieve outcomes required. Requires specialized knowledge in T&D product lines, markets, sales processes, and customer groups. Requires strong commercial awareness and is expected to influence the development of strategy for their broad sales territory.
 

At the Enterprise Solution Architect you will work with business stakeholders, technology leadership, and other architects to drive holistic technology implementation across Value Streams (i.e., a sets products, solutions, and services that deliver value to the customer) and Enablers (i.e., the activities needed to provide future business functionality, including infrastructure, security, and compliance activities). You will rely on continuous feedback that fosters adaptive design and engineering practices, and drives collaboration between programs and teams around a common vision across each architectural domain (functional, application, data, infrastructure). You will develops end-to-end architecture approach, including strategy and vision, guiding principles, and standards, incorporating technology trends and business imperatives into the future state design. You will ensure that common architecture decisions are implemented consistently in order to support the business, OT and IT strategy. Guides solution and domain architects across the organization on industry-leading practices, ensuring solutions align with enterprise architecture standards.
 

This role will:

  • Lead and coordinate the domain technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction across the GridOS product portfolio or product lines including ecosystem.
  • Engage with functional C-Suite and Senior Leaders in both IT and OT
  • Analyze design and develop a roadmap and implementation plan based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint.
  • Review and/or analyze and develop architectural requirements at domain level within product portfolio or team.
  • Participate in the enterprise architecture domain governance model.
  • Contribute to the development of software and data delivery platforms with reusable components that can be orchestrated together into different methods.
  • Lead the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry, and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities.
  • Analyzes industry and market technology trends to inform and drive the organization's strategy and goals. Leads, supports, and informs overall architecture approach, guiding principles, and standards on cross-organization initiatives. Offers insight and research on innovative solutions and technology strategy. Defines conceptual and logical architecture specifications in line with the enterprise standards for a particular portfolio of work. Understands and communicates Strategic Themes (e.g., differentiating business objectives that connect a portfolio to the strategy of the enterprise) and other key business drivers for architecture to solution and domain architects and other non-technical stakeholders.
  • Drives architectural initiatives and develops architectural frameworks to enable the development, operations, maintenance, and enhancement of technology. Works across Value Streams and Enablers (i.e., an organizational construct for an end-to-end process that delivers value to the organization and its customers, in which reside groups and teams which deliver products and capabilities) to harmonize architecture and ensure the appropriate flow of information and data. Ensures architecture decisions are consistent across the enterprise and leverage opportunities for common approaches. Leads related architects to ensure alignment across Value Streams. Maintains high-level, holistic vision of enterprise solutions and development initiatives and related reference models.
  • Engages with business stakeholders to innovate and improve business capabilities and to design enterprise technology solutions on a strong, resilient, digitally decoupled, and scalable architectural foundation. Manages relationships with leadership, solution and domain architects, and engineers to ensure enterprise architecture principles are understood for broad adoption.
  • Operates with an agile mindset, modeling agility in leadership to encourage iterative delivery with a focus on business value. Provides an expert-level technical perspective during roadmap and quarterly planning to drive the alignment of epics (i.e., a significant solution development initiative within a portfolio) to the overall strategic direction of the technology organization.
  • Technical Leadership – Demonstrates strong technical expertise across multiple technology domains, including deep technical specialty in one or more of the following areas: Applications – ADMS, AEMS, VI, AI/ML, GIS, Mobile…, Application Platforms, Software Engineering, Enterprise Information Management, Collaboration, Integration and Interoperability, Systems Management, Endpoint Devices, Network, Security, Cloud Advanced
  • Technology Trends - Demonstrates a strong understanding of emerging trends in the technology landscape, including new technologies, processes, and ways of working. Able to determine the impact of technological advancement on the company's systems, applications, infrastructure, and practices. Advanced
  • Enterprise Architecture Strategy - Strong ability to translate business strategy into objectives for technology; capability to create a holistic enterprise architecture (application, data, and technical) that enables capabilities aligned to business goals. Advanced
  • Enterprise Architecture - Strong understanding of the end-to-end value chain of the organization, and ability to articulate the current grid landscape and how GridOS builds the foundational platform to orchestrate the grid of the future  
  • Knowledge and understanding of Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Advanced
  • Communication for Technical Leadership - Ability to communicate technical ideas and strategies effectively to non-technical audiences, including executive leadership, via multiple mediums (e.g., written communications, verbal communications, presentations, etc.)
  • Stakeholder Management - Ability to create and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders in order to drive outcomes and create alignment around a vision or course of action.
  • Business Functional Knowledge - Knowledge and understanding of the business context, market and operational functions of the operating company, and the wider utilities industry.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or 10 years industry experience
  • A solid background and understanding of electrical power systems and utility operations is required.
  • Experience providing thought leadership to an organization.
  • Must be willing to travel 35-50%

Desired:

  • 10 years - Progressive experience in software engineering, technology design, and/or IT Architecture across multiple products, systems, and/or platforms. Must include experience in at least 2 IT disciplines, such as solution design, enterprise applications, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), middle-tier services, database management, storage, distributed computing, virtualization and/or application technology.
  • Experience delivering in DevOps environments, including experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and agile practices is preferred.
