Job Description

The Role in Brief:

China is world’s largest importer of agri-commodities like Soybeans, wheat, barley and corn. These commodities are mainly imported from Brasil, Argentina, Australia and the black-sea region for the use of animal feed, biobased products and human food. Typically, the Chinese buyers/importers decide whom to appoint at load port to execute the inspections and provide the right certificates to import the commodities into China. Today Chinese buyers are not aware of CIS/QIMA and we are looking for a commercial manager to raise our awareness with Chinese importers.

As Commercial Manager for CIS Commodity Inspection Services in China, your role will encompass many functions. Primarily, you'll analyse market trends and devise strategies to make Chinese buyers aware of CIS/QIMA and our global capabilities, you’ll identify and pursue new business opportunities to represent Chinese buyers at load ports in the key origins. You will build and strengthen relationships with key clients to secure new nominations and expand our global business towards China.

He role is of great strategic importance for CIS and for that you'll relay important market information and sales progress reports to the Chief Executive Officer. A major part of your role will also involve representing CIS/QIMA at industry events. Overall, you will play a pivotal part in driving CIS’ commercial strategy into one of the key markets for Agri-commodities in the world, China.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Market awareness

Develop and execute strategies to increase our market awareness in China and to put CIS/QIMA on the preferred supplier lists with the key purchasers of agri-commodities in China (import);

  1. Sales and Revenue Generation:

Increase market share by identifying new business opportunities with Chinese buyers and converting them into new nominations for testing, inspection and certification services in relation to agi-commodity imports to China. Ensure consistent growth in revenue figures by meeting or exceeding sales targets.

  1. Client Relationship Management:

Maintain and develop strong relationships with key clients. Regularly communicate with clients to understand their needs and provide solutions that meet these needs.

  1. Market Analysis and Strategy Development:

Analyze market trends and competitor activity within China's commodity inspection services landscape. Develop and execute sales strategies specific to the China market.

  1. Reporting and Communication:

Report vital market information and sales progress regularly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Collaborate across various teams to reach goals.

  1. Leader Representation:

Represent QIMA at key industry events and engagements.

Qualifications

Skills & Abilities:

In order to succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Proven track record in sales and business development within the commodity inspection services industry, preferably in relation to Chinese agri-commodity imports.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge in international trade and shipping is a plus.
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Availability to work during non-standard hours when required.
  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements in China.

 

Education & Experience:

  • Higher professional education (Bachelor) or working experience superseding the latter.
  • + 5 years experience in commercial management
  • +5 years experience in the agri-commodity industry
