What this role is all about:
Beem Credit Union is looking for a Vice President of Product & Segments to lead the development and innovation of our financial products and customer segments. This senior role entails defining the product portfolio vision and strategy in alignment with Beem's overall goals. You'll build and drive a team to execute our product-led operating model with agility, ensuring we remain at the forefront of digital banking in British Columbia.

What you’ll do:
Product Strategy, Research, Development & Innovation
- Brings and leads the development of an “expert” level of knowledge of the most relevant and member-desired financial products, advice, and member experience delivery models, and communicates this throughout Beem.
- Champions the establishment and ongoing improvement of product management methods utilized and supported across all functional areas but importantly in Product, Strategy, Marketing, Risk, Finance, Technology, Data and Operations.
- Drives a relentless pursuit of bold product innovation in response to technology pushes, market pulls and the needs of the business.
- Ensures that all products, including financial and non-financial products, customer segments and channels, are equally as much desirable to members as they are viable and feasible for Beem.
- Effectively communicates Beem’s product differentiation within and outside the credit union to the ecosystem, and acts as a change catalyst and voice of the external ecosystem creating an ambitious product agenda with a strategic mindset on both the present and future needs of members, changing competitive landscape and evolving company strategy.
- Drives the need for designing and realizing the best customer experience across all products, channels and segments
- Maintains knowledge of the regulations and policies for the credit union’s products and market, with an eye to leveraging changing market dynamics in product innovation.
- Embeds in the product function the innovation strategy, the practice of innovation, and a clear focus on the team’s objectives and how to deliver on those objectives.
- Leads as a practitioner and role model for product innovation and product management methodologies that are designed around new ways of working such as design thinking, business model design, and customer jobs-to-be-done.
Organizational Collaboration
- Contributes to the development and implementation of the credit union’s strategic plan as well as the policies, programs and strategies that ensure the success of the Business Innovation and product development teams.
- Owns the accountability for vendor and partner selection and ongoing decisions that are required technologies or services to deliver products or channels.
- Champions product innovation within and across the organization, building alignment and engagement and communicating ongoing developments across the company.
- Maintains productive collaboration with key stakeholders in Risk, Finance, Technology, Member Experience, Integration, People & Culture, along with the CEO and Board,and within the Innovation Practice.
- Prepares the business plan and key performance indicators including financial budget for products, channels and segments with the support key stakeholders; ensures that activities are conducted within the budget when approved.
- Proactively identify the need for and recommend new/revised policies, procedures and systems.
- Maintains current on new and upcoming technologies and concepts to ensure Beem’s leading innovative edge.
- Maintains strong collaborative relationships with external partners, agencies, and vendors to ensure the successful execution of initiatives.
Leadership & Communication
- Participates as an active member of the Senior Leadership Team by contributing to the corporate strategy development, adding value from a Product Innovation perspective, and is a role model to others for Beem values
- Executes near and long term business plans considering complex internal and external factors including emerging requirements and organizational interdependencies.
- Establishes excellence in communication of product propositions to Beem stakeholders that creates a benchmark for the use of design and story-telling within the credit union.
- Communicates department strategies and objectives, ensuring understanding and alignment with business and teams.
- Builds a high performing team of product leaders and innovators, ensuring the team is prioritizing effectively, managing their stakeholders, and leading their cross-functional agile teams through the full product and innovation lifecycle.
- Conducts ongoing training, coaching and feedback with employees through regular meetings and performance development.
A little about your qualifications:
- Bachelor or Master’s Degree in innovation, product and/or business fields
- 10+ years’ progressive and formal product management and product innovation experience in financial services or technology or related industries with demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams. Digital product experience is a core requirement.
- Strong understanding of innovation, digital transformation and product concepts (e.g. user interfaces, databases, data feeds)
- Strong presentation and communication skills
- Equivalent combination of the above may be appropriate.

- Competitive base salary; reviewed annually. The salary range for this position is $175,000 to $200,000.
