Job description

This is a remote position.

Overview:

The Solar Project Developer will be responsible for the comprehensive development of solar energy projects from site identification to commissioning. This role requires a combination of technical knowledge, project management skills, and financial acumen to ensure successful project delivery. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and have a strong background in renewable energy development.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Site Identification and Assessment:

    • Conduct site assessments to determine project feasibility.
    • Analyze solar resources, land suitability, and potential environmental impacts.
    • Negotiate land leases or purchases.
  2. Project Planning and Development:

    • Develop detailed project plans including scope, timelines, and budgets.
    • Coordinate with engineers and designers to create optimal solar system layouts.
    • Prepare and submit permit applications, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  3. Stakeholder Coordination:

    • Liaise with landowners, local authorities, utility companies, and other stakeholders.
    • Organize and lead community engagement meetings.
    • Manage relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
  4. Financial Management:

    • Develop and manage project budgets and financial models.
    • Identify and secure project financing and investments.
    • Monitor project costs and implement cost-saving measures.
  5. Project Execution and Monitoring:

    • Oversee project construction, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
    • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and address issues.
    • Coordinate with the operations team for project commissioning and handover.
  6. Compliance and Reporting:

    • Ensure all projects comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Prepare and present project progress reports to senior management.
    • Maintain accurate project documentation.
Qualifications:
  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or a related field.
    • Advanced degree in a related discipline is a plus.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in solar project development or a related field.
    • Proven track record of successfully developing and delivering solar projects.
  • Skills:

    • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
    • Knowledge of solar energy systems, design, and construction processes.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
