This role has a hybrid remote/office schedule based out of the Edmonton Office.

We are looking to hire an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer/Project Engineer (PE) who will provide mechanical engineering and PE expertise to our project teams, ensuring that technical excellence, scope, cost, schedule, and contractual requirements are achieved. This individual will play an active role in both mechanical and project engineering duties and track project stakeholder requirements. The candidate will work closely with the mechanical design and project engineering teams to ensure work plans and technical drawings meet project specifications and goals. This individual will report to the Mechanical Department Manager and will also be responsible for mentoring and supporting junior-level members of the team. In addition, past PE experience with future plans of moving into Project Management is considered an asset.

EXPERIENCE& ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of a recognized university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering discipline or equivalent.
- Professional Engineering designation with APEGA is necessary.
- 4+ years of experience in mechanical engineering and PE experience; EP/EPCM experience is very desirable.
- Recent experience in executing multi-disciplined small to medium-sized projects.
- Expertise in piping design and material selection.
- Elevated level of knowledge in the use of oil and gas industry codes and standards, including but not limited to CSA, ASME, and API.
- Experience in pipe stress analysis using CAESAR II, including NozzlePRO and FE/Pipe or other FEA software is considered an asset.
- Experience with vessel and heat exchanger design to ASME and TEMA standards.
- Experience with COMPRESS, PVElite, or similar software is considered an asset.
- Experience with rotating equipment; compressors, gas/steam turbines, pumps, compressors.
- Working knowledge of CAD design and 3D software would be an asset.
- Elevated level of knowledge for the use of appropriate construction methods, notes, and input to CWP’s.
- Previous field and site experience is considered an asset.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute mechanical engineering activities with the objective of meeting the defined contractual scope to the relevant codes, standards, and company/client procedures.
- Perform calculations, develop material takeoffs, and cost estimates.
- Stamp and issue drawings with support from subject matter experts and senior engineers.
- Analyze technical issues and coordinate with other discipline specialists during squad checks.
- Develop work plans, execution of strategies, and project resource planning given schedule, budget, and scope constraints.
- Perform detailed reviews of project mechanical design specifications, design drawings, and standard detail drawings.
- Provide mechanical design team with modifications to technical drawings and work plans according to engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Review and ensure required corrections are completed by designers and meet project standards.
- Report to the Mechanical Department Manager on the progress of work and ensure coordination and communication between the engineering and design team is clear, concise, and documented.
- Mentor, direct work, and supervise junior team members as required.
- Assist in the development of discipline-specific work practices and procedures.
- Manage the budget and schedule for assigned scopes of work. Identify any deviations to scope, schedule or budget and make changes accordingly.
- Prepare or assist with preparing change notices.
- Assist with RFI’s and technical bid analysis documents.
- Host and/or co-chair team and client meetings.

POSITION CONDITIONS
- Job is performed in an office environment or can be hybrid; occasional travel may be required within Canada or the US.
