The Position:

We’re seeking a Deputy VP Finance to join our growing finance team, responsible for managing the Controllership, FP&A, Integrations, and Financial Systems functions. The Deputy VP Finance will report to the VP of Finance and will manage a team of 5 managers and directors. The position is in a diverse and fast-paced environment with a wide global reach. This position is right for you if you are driven to perform, are results-oriented, have high attention for details, can recommend solutions to complex problems, and are willing to work variable hours within a dynamic M&A environment. You are a collaborative individual, who can work easily with a team, and are also comfortable driving work to completion independently when required. The Deputy VP Finance serves as a key liaison to the finance team and will contribute to the development and achievement of Lumine Group’s financial and strategic goals.

Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

Financial Reporting:

  • Oversee completion of all consolidated financial reporting, including publicly listed financial statements and MD&A, as well as internal financial reporting to parent company.
  • Work with portfolio companies’ finance teams to improve efficiencies related to the financial close process, including identifying opportunities for automation.
  • Own risk management framework and internal controls environment, including performing periodic internal audits to enforce adherence to financial policies.
  • Manage external auditors and ensure timely completion of quarterly reviews and annual external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and tax obligations, including oversight of payroll processing and reporting.

Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Ensure completion of monthly and quarterly deliverables such as quarterly budgets, forecast to actual variance analyses, IRR, attrition analysis, organic growth, cash flow forecasting, and more.
  • Review quarterly results presentations and present to VP Finance and CEO. Provide transparent and meaningful observations on results and outliers.
  • Recommend and lead efforts to improve ROIC, working capital, organic growth, and other key performance indicators, including performing new and ad-hoc analyses to investigate results.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and ensure cash is efficiently utilized across all businesses.
  • Manage Lumine head office budget and work with various teams to develop accurate forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with debt covenants and accurate and timely reporting to lenders.
  • Other ad hoc requests and projects as required.

Acquisition Integration and Monitoring:

  • Oversee financial integration of new acquisitions, including purchase price allocations, accounting policy review and alignment, rollout of reporting requirements and governance standards, creation of new bottoms-up forecasts, and more.
  • Responsible for ensuring opening balance sheet accounting is complete and accurate.
  • Ensure all post-acquisition timelines and submissions to sellers are monitored and adhered to.

Financial Systems:

  • Oversee and manage the implementation of NetSuite across all businesses, including participating in the steering committee and ensuring the deployment is effective and efficient.
  • Keep current with the latest finance systems industry developments and innovations that impact the organization such as automation of processes, available integrations, etc.
  • Ensure that data integrity, internal controls, and audit trails are maintained within all systems.
  • Conduct situational assessments, identify gaps, make recommendations, and direct the implementations of such changes as required to improve finance systems and related processes.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Provide leadership and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Train and coach global finance teams to ensure they have the knowledge and resources they require to adhere to international financial reporting standards (IFRS).

Qualifications:

  • Accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) required.
  • 15 years of experience with a track record of progressive executive leadership.
  • Experience working in a global business with multiple currencies and time zones an asset.
  • Public Company experience is a must, either within public accounting or in-house.
  • Software industry experience an asset.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, Systems, regulations, and best practices.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence decision-making.
  • Ability to manage a demanding work schedule and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Can work well independently with limited supervision, as well as in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • A true problem solver, who thrives on using curiosity and pragmatism to propose solutions.
  • Self-driven and motivated with a passion for learning.
