POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Our client is searching for a decisive and insightful DevOps Engineer to join our maritime defence community! The DevOps Engineer will be involved in various stages of each product’s lifespan and proactively ensure the stability, resiliency, and scalability of our services. They should have a track record of implementing tools to accelerate testing, development, and deployment of applications in cloud native environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain mission-critical information extraction, analysis, and management systems
  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of the Company’s Disaster Recovery Plan
  • Collaborate with the other Engineering team members on the architecture, design, and delivery of production systems
  • Work alongside project management teams to successfully monitor progress and implementation of initiatives
  • Collaborate with IT Teams to optimize IT infrastructure by designing cyber-secure systems, updates, and practices
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines, automated and standardized deployments, and zero-time deployments
  • Automate change management and delivery pipeline into production
  • Ensure safety, predictability, repeatability, and auditability of all build and deploy processes
  • Design and set up monitoring and alerting of our production systems
  • Support Major Incident response when required and completing blameless Root Cause Analysis and Incident Reviews

Requirements

  • 5+ Years experience in an engineering/DevOps role.
  • Proven Programming background in languages such as Python, Typescript, Java etc.
  • Strong experience with AWS services, of particular interest will be CDK.
  • Experience designing and building CI/CD Pipelines in an AWS environment.
  • CI/CD processes and tools (DevSec Ops, GitHub Actions and AWS Code Pipeline).
  • Experience with CDK preferred (Terraform, CloudFormation alternatively).
  • Experience with Docker Compose and Docker-isation of applications.
  • Container orchestration services such as Kubernetes, ECS, EKS.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a keen sense of customer service
  • Process oriented with great documentation skills
  • Experience of knowledge of Agile Software Development methodologies

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, IS or similar field (IT experience can substitute for a BS degree)


DESIRED SKILLS (Not Required):

  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer

TRAVEL REQUIRED:

  • Ability for up to 10% travel both domestic and international.

WORK SCHEDULE NOTE:

  • While this position is scheduled for a traditional Monday – Friday work week, our systems run 24/7/365 and as such, you may be expected to perform out of hours, on-call support on an as needed basis. Additional compensation may be available for working on-call, standby, or holiday hours.
  • This is a Public Trust position and requires completion of a State and Federal Criminal History Report (i.e., background check) and may require a Department of Defense security clearance. Current and future employment will be contingent upon satisfactory completion.
