The Manager of Performance Management and Analytics (Manager of PMA) reports to Senior Director of Performance Management and Analytics or designee and is a key member of Sound Performance Management Team, bridging the gap between data and clinical and business leaders, supporting specialty and regional leadership teams across the nation in determining requirements, and deliver data-driven recommendations and reports to drive clinical and operations excellence.
About the Role:
The Manager of PMA is knowledgeable of Sound’s business intelligence platforms, Sound’s Way of Management, the organization’s strategic goals and objectives, as well as region-specific and specialty projects and processes. The role conducts analyses to support leadership in the telling of compelling stories based on data, and also provides analytics to inform decisions and assess alternative solutions as needed.
Daily work includes analyzing data and creating new models to support Sound’s regional leadership's planning, management and decision making. This work also includes outlining problems and opportunities, creating the business case to illustrate the impact of a decision or its alternatives on profitability, efficiency, and patient care.
This position contributes to the success of the organization by ensuring a foundation of high quality data, self-initiating analyses that improves clinical performance and business operations, while balancing a multitude of complex work assignments.
The Manager of PMA fully understands and adheres to the standard, best practices established by the SVP of Performance Management and Sr. Director of Performance Management & Analytics.
The Details:
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Acting as a subject matter expert for Sound’s business intelligence tools, educating and supporting regional teams in the interactive use of the platform and enable self-service
- Performing deep dive analyses, identifying concerning clinical or operational trends, providing insights to regional leadership team, collaborating with field leaders and clinical performance nursing team to drive improvements in operations and clinical performance at sites
- Participating in the development of and execution of corrective action plans, involving defining performance metrics, sourcing additional data beyond Sound’s BI platform, analyzing performance trends, and delivering insights to regional leadership team to aid in formulating corrective strategies
- Creating comprehensive operational and financial models. This includes, but is not limited to, detailed impact assessments based on changes in market strategies, alternative pricing structures, expansion of clinician and support staffing, joint venture analysis, new clinical specialty development and incentive compensation mechanisms
- Collaborating with the assigned regional staff accountant, regional director of operations and finance team to ensure the accuracy and timely production of physician bonus payments and invoices
- Reviewing monthly financial reports, identifying and understanding variances, and participating in discussions for corrective action plans as it relates to clinical operations performance
- Supporting the regional leadership and business development teams by providing demonstrations of business intelligence platforms with specific use cases of value to the prospective partner and applying data and analytics expertise to enhance the sales process
- Interfacing with partner hospital administration as directed and when needed
- Collaborating with Enterprise Data Management team on ongoing data quality control

- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or technical field
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent understanding of data structure
- Strong data quality assessment skills
- 2 years of experience in data and analytics
- Experience with developing presentations for executive audiences
- Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools (tableau, Power BI)
