In order to deliver our services globally, we manage hundreds of bare metal and cloud servers running cutting edge technologies and our proprietary data layer. 

We’re seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join our growing team and support the continued performance and growth of our solutions. Along with datacenter experience, your areas of expertise should include server infrastructure, system monitoring, and security.  

In this role, you will have the opportunity to be involved with continuous integration and delivery of the top, industry leading enterprise SEO platform. You will be maintaining and scaling our infrastructure, as well as troubleshooting and developing solutions for complex problems.  


What You Will Be Doing  

  • Responsible for managing, monitoring, maintaining, and enhancing the structure of an over 250+ server infrastructure 
  • Leverage existing SOPs and build new ones to ensure smooth operation of the global infrastructure.  
  • Work with the team to anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on all Linux systems 
  • Debug critical problems in production environment with minimal turnaround time  
  • Collaborate and support application development teams throughout project lifecycles 
  • Design and implement efficient system monitoring 
  • Design, gain approval for, and execute modifications to Linux systems to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance 
  • Perform Linux server/database transaction and security audits leading to identification and mitigation of security threats to enterprise data. Recommend and implement changes where necessary 
  • Create required reports in response to business user needs 
  • Create Linux shell scripts 
  • Develop, document, and maintain Linux system training materials and systems documentation for educating end users and new IT staff 
  • Assist with other projects as may be required to contribute to efficiency and effectiveness of the work 
  • Assist with Change Management preparations and implementations, providing technical subject matter expertise 
  • Provide periodic 24-7 on-call support of specific functions 
  • Working with an offshore team. 

 

Your Qualifications 

  • Strong experience working in a Linux environment as a Sys Admin, including configuration and production support (Redhat, CentOS, Ubuntu, SuSe, etc.) 
  • A demonstrated understanding of Linux systems including kernel, network, disk, CPU, and memory 
  • Experienced in Internet services such as HTTP (Tomcat), DNS/BIND, SMTP, etc. 
  • Understanding of cloud architecture (AWS, EC2, S3, Rackspace, etc.) 
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools (Puppet, Chef, CF Engine, Ansible, etc.) 
  • Demonstrated understanding of metrics analysis & health monitoring (Graphite, Nagios, etc.) 
  • Knowledge of Shell, Perl, Ruby, and/or Python 
  • Knowledge of source control management (Subversion, Git, etc.) 
  • Advanced understanding of web-based architecture and development techniques 
  • Able to lead the implementation of policies, procedures, and technologies (including firewalls) to ensure Linux system security through secure system access, monitoring, control, and routine security evaluations 
  • Experience working with globally distributed teams 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, while ensuring that commitments and timetables are met 
  • Ability to partner with internal stakeholders to design operational solutions 
  • Goal oriented, forward thinker that can provide solutions for complex technical problems
