Litigation, Regulatory and Privacy (DGC). This is a global role where this attorney will manage a
team of legal professionals. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, the successful attorney will be
responsible for working with courts, regulators, and policy makers on a range of domestic and

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of consumer protection and privacy matters with experience managing global disputes and regulatory investigations. Experience managing complex matters involving consumer protection, online content regulation, government investigations, and/or data privacy is required. Experience working for a consumer-oriented tech company with a large global user base is strongly desired. International experience is also preferred, since the majority of the company’s regulatory and litigation matters arise outside the U.S. In-house experience is also strongly preferred, but our client will consider senior attorneys from top law firms with directly relevant experience.

This DGC will also serve as a strategic leader for the design and implementation of the company’s global data privacy and data governance programs.

Candidates should have a track record of success working in a fast-paced environment, consistently making good decisions under tight deadlines.

This attorney will possess:
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills
  • Executive presence
  • Confidence and willingness to engage in constructive conflict
  • Strong advocacy skills and boldness
  • Inclination to see the big picture, think strategically and maintain neutrality
  • Understanding of business practices and cultural norms outside the United States
  • Ability to recruit, motivate, and develop a global team of exceptional professionals
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging

  • Specific duties include:
  • Managing global litigation and regulatory matters
  • Initiating proactive strategic litigation to advance the interests of the company and its users and partners
  • Developing and implementing a set of privacy principles to guide the company’s collection, storage, use, and destruction of personal data and building a clear and compelling narrative that generates trust in the company’s data privacy practices
  • Developing and managing a strategy for when the company should engage on competition matters impacting its business
  • Identifying regulatory and legislative trends that may represent new compliance obligations for the company and using these trends to advise company executives and Board members
  • Coordinating accurate and efficient responses to inquiries from users, partners, insurance underwriters, the media, and governments
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with government officials
  • Liaising with external organizations, such as industry trade associations, standards organization, and other advisory groups to ensure that the company maintains a strong data privacy, compliance, and regulatory posture with external stakeholders
  • Serving as the company’s designated spokesperson for external communications on regulatory, privacy, and information security topics (i.e., blog posts, media, partner events, regulatory hearings);.

  • Total cash compensation is targeted between $400,000 - $450,000 and includes an attractive equity grant.
