Homesite Insurance is looking for an experienced Litigation Specialist to join our organization. As a Litigation Specialist, you will handle 3rd party claims that are in litigation across all states. You will be responsible for evaluating coverage, directing and reviewing litigation strategy, and managing defense counsel and defense costs. Some travel to mediations, settlement conferences and trials may be required.

The Litigation Specialist will:

  • Investigate and resolve 3rd party claims in litigation in a timely and professional manner
  • Review Summons & Complaint and initiate contact with plaintiff/plaintiff attorney and insured to gather material facts regarding the allegations
  • Evaluate coverage under the policy and advise parties of coverage position
  • Negotiate directly as necessary to resolve claims in a timely manner
  • Assign and manage defense counsel as needed
  • Develop defense strategy including motions practice, discovery, mediation and/or arbitration
  • Provide excellent customer service to insureds
    • Guide the insured through the litigation and claims process
    • Set clear and accurate expectations with the insured
    • Respond to all insured questions and concerns in a timely, accurate and professional manner
  • Manage a significant case load with a focus on early and efficient settlement

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience adjusting 3rd party liability claims and/or managing litigation for both homeowner and commercial business
  • In-depth knowledge of claim handling, investigation, and settlement processes and procedures.
  • Ability to manage a large caseload across all jurisdictions
  • Excellent negotiation and dispute management skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize among competing interests
  • Knowledge of legal issues and litigation process
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
