The Home Health OASIS & ICD-10 Coding Clinical Consultant develops educational materials on a contract basis for seminars, online learning activities, and client-specific education requests. The Consultant works in a primarily remote setting with the potential for on-site and online education activities as a trainer or presenter. On-site and presenting responsibilities are established on a consultant-specific basis in coordination with HCL leadership. The Consultant performs his/her activities as assigned by HCL leadership and with a high level of service and expertise. The Consultant ensures each project is completed per directives and the established standards while promoting and maintaining the integrity of HealthCare ConsultLink.
Job Qualifications:
Licensure: Must possess a current RN license in the home state and be willing to apply for additional licensure in other states, as needed. Current certification in OASIS and ICD-10 coding preferred. Current driver’s license required.
Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in the home health (licensed and certified) industry. A minimum of three (3) years of recent home health experience is preferred. At least one year of recent home health administrative or supervisory experience is preferred; multi-site management experience is preferred. Must have at least two (2) years of recent experience in OASIS review and ICD-10 coding processes and guidelines. Must have knowledge of clinical and regulatory home health guidelines with emphasis on OASIS and coding-related impacts related to compliance, as well as related best practices. Additional knowledge of current, publicly anticipated regulatory changes is preferred.
Skills: The Consultant should have excellent skills in researching topics, identifying key content, and developing materials needed for training. The Consultant should have skills in developing content based on program objectives, audience characteristics, means of delivery, and applicability of the topic(s). Must be able to read and write in English and follow instruction. Must have excellent attention to detail and a high level of skill with regards to grammar, punctuation, and visual appeal of training materials. The Consultant should possess reasonable knowledge in computer systems and be able to communicate well both verbally and through written documentation. Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint is required, and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel is preferred. Confidence in presentational skills and the ability to effectively address groups of various sizes, as well as train individually in a one-on-one setting, is preferred. Must be able to work independently while demonstrating a high level of productivity and quality. Must demonstrate above average interpersonal skills and time management skills.
Transportation: Reliable transportation and valid and current auto insurance
Travel: Intermittent travel required (10% of the time) with potential for additional travel if performing training (30%)
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred; previous experience may be acceptable in the absence of a Bachelor’s degree
Environmental and Working Conditions:
Works remotely with team members and external stakeholders, promoting functioning and coordination with education activities to ensure the highest level of professional care. May work on-site for seminars and/or training if agreed upon with HCL leadership. Ability to work a flexible schedule. Ability to travel as noted with potential exposure to inclement weather.
Physical and Mental Effort:
Intermittent standing and walking required, with an occasional need to lift, pull, carry, and/or push items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and HCL/agency needs. Requires excellent problem-solving skills and ability to maintain a professional demeanor in stressful situations.
Essential Functions:
- Effectively demonstrate the mission, vision and values of HCL on a daily basis
- Demonstrates and supports the core values of HCL while holding peer team members accountable for adhering to them
- Provides educational services remotely for development and presentation (remote, on-site, and/or online) per agreement with HCL leadership
- Demonstrates a high level of knowledge of regulatory guidelines and requirements impacting home health agencies; includes high level of knowledge of OASIS and coding guidelines and conventions
- Provides training and support to other members of the consulting team, as needed
- Communicates with HCL team to provide information on education activities, status updates, and requests from other stakeholders
- Responsible for managing assignments in a professional manner while providing a high level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders
- Follows HCL processes for documenting activities, completing project requirements, and communicating project and/or client information
- Acts in a manner that is compliant with company policies and expectations
- Will perform education (remote, on-site, and/or online) as designated in coordination with HCL managers and team members
- Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of, and ensures compliance with, all local, state, and federal laws relating to operations of HCL
- When requested, partners with other team members to develop approaches that best position services or ideas for the marketplace through appropriate sales and marketing activities
- Contributes to HCL team efforts to achieve and surpass business goals and objectives
- Carries out other duties in support of the CEO and managers at HCL
