Your missions

Marie Curie is one of the UK’s most loved charities and the leader in end-of-life care and support. We’re fighting for a better end of life for all because we believe that every day of your life matters – from the first to the last.

Beautiful, wild and remote, West Cornwall is not only a popular family destination but a place of tucked-away communities, with a thriving arts and culture scene and stunning prehistoric landscapes. From the golden sands of St Ives Bay, the storm-washed cliffs of Land's End, to the sub-tropical gardens of Penzance or the ancient lands of West Penwith, it’s a truly vibrant region to work in.

The opportunityAt Marie Curie we care about you and your career, and we seek to provide opportunities to ensure our employees are constantly learning new things and feeling challenged in their role.

Our Healthcare Assistants work as part of a multidisciplinary and multiagency team providing holistic, person-centred, end-of-life care to patients and those important to them, undertaking a broad range of care activities as delegated by a Registered Nurse through a documented plan of care.As well as a week-long induction, including an introduction to palliative care, you will also be assigned a ‘Buddy’ for the first six months in role. You can also study a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Care at Truro and Penwith College. This is a fantastic opportunity to ‘learn while you earn’ with us!

What do I need? - Previous experience in a similar care role and a real interest in offering exceptional end of life care. - Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport and work effectively with a diverse range of people. - The willingness to work alone overnight – after initial training. - Good IT skills with an openness to learning our systems and processes. - A clean driving licence and use of a private car. Though you will have access to a ‘pool’ car for daytime shifts. - Valid right to work in the UK is essential.
