Website Maintenance Specialist

Job Summary: As a Website Maintenance Specialist at alumas, you will be responsible for maintaining and updating our website, ensuring that it remains a user-friendly and informative resource for our community and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the organization’s website.
  • Update website content, including text, images, videos, and other multimedia elements, to reflect our language revitalization initiatives and events.
  • Ensure that the website design, layout, and functionality align with the organization’s branding and messaging.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to optimize website content for search engine visibility and user engagement.
  • Monitor website performance and troubleshoot technical issues as needed.
  • Work with external vendors and developers to implement website enhancements and updates.
  • Maintain and update event calendars, news sections, and other dynamic content on the website.
  • Implement web accessibility standards to ensure an inclusive user experience for all visitors.
  • Provide training and support to staff members who contribute to the website’s content.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and trends in website development and design.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to create engaging and relevant content for the website.
  • Manage the organization’s online registration and payment systems for events and programs.
  • Contribute to the development of digital strategies to enhance online engagement and community involvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, Digital Media, Communications, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in website management and maintenance, including content updates and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in content management systems (CMS), such as WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal.
  • Knowledge of web design principles, user experience (UX), and responsive design.
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to suggest and implement innovative web solutions.
  • Familiarity with indigenous cultures and languages (preferred).
