YOUR PURPOSE AND FUNCTION IN OUR COMPANY:

Alleviate the impact of adversity during challenging life events by the prompt investigation and resolution of claims.  Supports and contributes to the Claims Department and Company’s missions, visions, values, and goals.

KEY CAPABILITIES FOR SUCCESS:

  • Develops strategies for increasing the operational efficiencies of the department.
  • Routinely Handles Claims of the highest severity and complexity.
  • Actively identifies and pursues all avenues of contribution and recovery by third parties.
  • Displays the highest level of acumen regarding indemnity and loss expenses.
  • identifies opportunities to build relationships with new and existing internal/external business partners.
  • Resolves Claims proactively, creatively and fairly in a manner that is reflective of coverage, liability and damages.
  • Operates with an authorization level typically in excess of $75,000
  • Conducts thorough, accurate and timely investigation to determine liability and claim valuation.
  • Demonstrates a mastery of products and coverages offered by Preferred Mutual.
  • Evaluates files for the accurate and timely reserving of Claims with a high level emphasis on the Preferred Mutual reserving philosophy.
  • Demonstrates mastery of claim procedures and file administration for proper file documentation and claim reporting.
  • Meets and exceeds file quality standards as determined by internal and external audits.

FUNCTIONAL AREA RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Handles complex liability, exposure, and coverage situations
  • Develops a niche expertise, including but not limited to high value loses, diminished value, environmental losses, los of income, minor bodily injury cash outs, or coverage expertise.
  • Demonstrates effective handling of claims with 50k or more exposure; independently and proactively draft reports and updates, and present reports and updates to management every 30 to 60 days without prompting
  • properly assess the need for attorneys and experts, effectively procure, direct and oversee attorneys and experts on litigated claims; manage expert and litigation expense
  • develop training material with managers and train others effectively and energetically; promotes continuing education for themselves and others; independently tracks licensing and continuing education requirement 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 6 or more years of experience in auto PD claim handling and processing.
  • One professional designation required (i.e., AIC, CPCU, SCLA).
  • Additional professional designations, or equivalent industry coursework strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional active listening skills paired with effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Make timely, definitive, and fact driven decisions.
  • Strong time and project management skills that support continued process improvement.
  • Skilled at collaboration, group decision making, problem solving and negotiation. Pursues duties and interactions with integrity.
  • Proficient in technology platforms utilized by Preferred Mutual (including but not limited to Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and Internet-based applications).

The base pay range for this position is $67,000 to $96,000 paid on a salaried basis.  The rate offered to any candidate will be reflective of the candidate’s experience and any relevant education, certification, or qualifications related to their ability to perform the responsibilities of this position as permitted by law.
