The Office for External Education (OEE) is a highly entrepreneurial, diverse, and inclusive, department within Harvard Medical School delivering a portfolio of innovative medical education opportunities, through live, online, and blended programming as well as digital, multimedia, and print resources, to a breadth of learners, including current and aspiring health care professionals; leaders at all levels within companies that serve the health care industry; and individuals seeking to live healthier lives. OEE is supported by a team of nearly 300 faculty and staff with revenues generated through B2B and B2C relationships, as well as grant and gift funding.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Marketing Automation, the Marketing Automation Specialist's responsibilities include working with cross-functional teams to understand OEE’s customer segments, and leverage knowledge of automation best practices to create, execute, and track highly targeted marketing automation campaigns and nurture series. This role is ideal for someone with two to three years of experience working with marketing automation tools and looking to grow as a technical marketer.

Position Description

  • Create and execute email marketing initiatives in SFMC to include dynamic content; segmentation, QA/testing, scheduling, deployment, and campaign analysis
  • Track, manage, complete, and deploy tests multiple times a day in a deadline-driven environment
  • Manage and maintain a database list of contacts and perform regular data cleanup to ensure data accuracy and completeness
  • Create automations around specific customer attributes
  • Create approaches for constant A/B testing to improve email performance.
  • Track all touchpoints within our customer database, and analyze the long-term impact of emails on audience engagement and conversions
  • Translation of visual design to HTML email code and work with pre-existing HTML templates and provide design and HTML editing
  • Assist in quality control around customer-facing email communications
  • Ensure that all content remains in a stable and well-tested environment that is responsive and presented excellently across all email platforms and devices
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance to marketing team and work with creative designer to make any edits
  • Stay in tune with latest email best practices, platforms, ESPs, compatibility, technologies and trends pertaining to email-related experiences
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align strategies with overall goals
  • This role is responsible for other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

5 or more years of experience. Higher education may count towards experience. **

Additional Qualifications And Skills**

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2 - 3 years of experience working with and developing automations, journeys, and triggered sends in a Marketing Automation platform (e.g. Marketing Cloud, Marketo, Hubspot, etc.). Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud is a plus.
  • Proven experience in overseeing the direction, development, and implementation of Salesforce Marketing Cloud operations.
  • Solid technical skills and expertise with HTML for email deployment
  • Insight into email marketing best practices, such as adherence to CAN-SPAM and GDPR standards, how to optimize inbox placement
  • Excellent project management, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to track, manage, complete, and deploy tests multiple times a day in a deadline-driven environment
  • Experience with AMPscript is a plus
  • Experience with Litmus is a plus

Work Format Details**

This position is based in Boston, but the work may be done primarily remote. Any remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (CA, CT, GA, IL, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, VA, VT, and WA). Individual flexible and remote work options for this role will be discussed during the interview process. Note: Harvard employees working in California must be exempt. **
