The Institutional Donor Engagement and Advancement (IDEA) Department advances the agency’s strategic position by managing and stewarding institutional donor relationships and resources, supporting the growth of CRS’ business and influence, and building the capacity of staff across the spectrum of resource acquisition and management. The IDEA Department is housed within CRS’ Overseas Operations Division, and closely collaborates with technical specialist and field implementation colleagues to strategically pursue funding partnerships. Donor-focused units within the department provide relationship management, business development (BD) and award management expertise; deep knowledge of donor priorities and business processes to support successful positioning; and leadership of donor engagement strategies that integrate multiple points of contact across organizational functions. IDEA is comprised of three subgroups: Donor Engagement and Strategic Partnerships (DESP), Business Development (BD), and the Project Support Unit (PSU). The Foundations and Corporate Engagement (FCE) unit is one of the donor-facing units within the DESP unit. **
Job Summary**
The Director of Foundations and Corporate Engagement is designated to design and implement strategy to ensure that CRS continues to secure transformational gifts from foundations and corporations. The Director is also responsible in managing portfolio of awards valued at more than $200M from several high-profile donors and manages CRS’ short and long-term funding ensuring expansion and diversification of resource mobilization in support of CRS’ Vision 2030. The Director keeps the team focused with CRS’ programs and services work toward fulfilling CRS’ wider mission. **
Roles And Key Responsibilities**
- Strategic Leadership
- Build global agency vision, leadership, and strategy for sustainable financial growth specific to donor engagement and resources.
- Partner with the Director of DESP and Vice President of IDEA to establish long-term and short-term strategic fundraising and resource mobilization priorities.
- Determine potential foundation and corporate fundraising and resource mobilization opportunities.
- Effectively engage with CRS Executives and partners in donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Develop global agency learning efforts around institutional foundation and corporate philanthropy trends.
- Fundraising/Resource Mobilization Operations
- Articulate the annual fundraising/resource mobilization planning process of priority to CRS staff.
- Effectively translate programmatic offerings into compelling narratives, building a strong case for financial support, in collaboration with the communications and other teams.
- Determine and develop prospective donor portfolio and engage in negotiation with possible partners and key foundations and corporations by expanding CRS visibility.
- Build and maintain positive and engaged relationship with foundation leaders, donor partners, and high-level stakeholders.
- Lead the preparation and management of portfolio of foundation awards.
- Represent CRS at relevant external events and meetings (e.g. World Food Prize Borlaug International Symposium, Regenerative Agriculture and Food Systems Summit, ASTMH Annual Meeting, etc.
- Position the organization at its best by support BD efforts in response to solicited and/or competitive opportunities.
- Ensures optimum productivity of the team by building and maintaining a healthy work climate within the group.
- Guide the team, assess training needs and provide developmental program and coaching as needed.
- Ensure CRS compliance with donor requirements and expectations as articulated in grant agreements.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
- Minimum of eight-ten years of relevant work experience.
- Minimum of five years of management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business, International Development or International Relations, or another relevant field, preferred.
- Minimum 10 years international development experience with at least three years supervisory experience.
- Proven track record in private sector fundraising/resource mobilization.
- Three years’ experience working in a developing country.
- Proficient in French or Spanish.
- Proficient use of prospect management or fundraising/resource mobilization platforms such as Salesforce, etc.

- Strong communication and presentation skills with particular facility in interacting with advocacy groups, donor representatives, and professionals.
- Strong understanding of the operations of the organization, including policies and procedures.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly in outreach to donors and prospects, leading meetings, facilitating events.
- Exemplary representational skills and building strategic relations with prospects, donors, private sector and other key actors.

- Strong supervisory skills and a desire to help others learn and grow.
Required Languages – Fluent in English. _**
Travel_ – ability to travel as necessary, domestically and internationally (approximately 20%)
