Job description

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field and five years related experience. **

Job Summary:**

Responsible for the development, management, and security of information systems, daily operations of departmental personnel, process improvement, change management for growth and enhancements, and project management for new system implementations. Works in collaboration with leaders in Information Technology Services (ITS) and other divisions across the enterprise to support the departmental and institutional strategic plans. **

Preferred Qualifications:**

  • Experience in Epic Radiant, Epic Cupid, and/or Epic Beaker is highly preferred.
  • Experience in Epic Lumens and/or Epic Content Management is preferred but not required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in Healthcare Information Technology and personnel management experience is highly desired.

Job Duties:

Responsible for project management for new system implementations specifically regarding the Clinical IS Epic Ancillary Systems team. Works in collaboration with leaders in Information Technology Services(ITS) and other divisions across the enterprise to support the departmental and Institutional strategic plans. Manages a team of nine staff who are responsible for supporting Epic Radiant, Epic Beaker, and Epic Cupid across all UTMB campuses and respective clinic locations. Develops and implements operational plans for new and existing business computer applications. Participates in development of project proposals for customers. Must be able to work within both a team-oriented environment and independently. Project management skills are preferred. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely through written and verbal communications is required. Strong interpersonal skills are required.

  • Assists the Director in the development, review, and maintenance of strategic and operational plans for information technology tools and usage.
  • Coordinates with the Director on the planning, design, development, and implementation of new application systems, and the maintenance of existing systems.
  • Stays abreast of new medical technologies that comes onto the market, specifically new Epic functionality, to prepare for requests to implement and support new technologies.
  • Provides effective project management for all assigned initiatives.
  • Prepares reports to inform leadership of project status and any deviation from project goals.
  • Ensures regular project status reports are provided to customers and internal management.
  • Serves as the primary customer contact for Epic ancillary systems, which includes the periodic need to travel between the four campuses (Galveston, League City, Clear Lake, and Angleton) to meet with customers.
  • Manages ITS staff by recruiting, training, promoting, disciplining, and coaching employees, communicating job expectations, and evaluating their performance.
  • Works and interacts closely with cross-functional teams to build collaborative working relationships to support the institution’s vision and mission.
  • Identifies functional and technical aspects of issues and integrates appropriate resources to meet business requirements.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups.
  • Identifies appropriate internal controls for department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Experience in Epic Radiant, Cupid, and Beaker is highly preferred. Additionally, experience in Epic Lumens and Epic Content Management is a bonus. Strong organizational skills are required. Good verbal and written communication skills are required. **

Work Schedule:**

Position will be up to 100% Remote,

Monday through Friday and on-call support for staff as needed. **

Salary Range:**

Actual salary commensurate with experience. **
