We’re looking for a Senior DBA to form part of the Database Administrator Team within the IT Service department.

As Senior DBA, you will be accountable for the management and administration of Evri database systems in predominantly AWS RDS Aurora databases to expand the team’s knowledge in this area. As an SME in the Database team, you will provide third level support and perform root cause analysis on database issues.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Being a subject matter expert for Evri’s databases.
  • Monitoring databases in AWS and OCI to ensure optimal performance at all times.
  • Promoting best practices for new databases being created in AWS.
  • Maintaining data integrity by monitoring database activity to ensure that it meets regulations on security and compliance.
  • Performing disaster recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
  • Creating and executing backup procedures to protect data from loss or corruption.
  • Recommending improvements to database security measures to prevent unauthorised access or misuse of data.
  • Providing technical expertise on Evri’s database structure or function.
  • Installing and upgrading database software to ensure that it is compatible with current technology standards.
  • Developing or testing new database applications where needed.
  • Writing custom scripts to automate routine tasks.
  • Troubleshooting AWS and OCI database issues and providing resolution within SLAs
  • Providing technical expertise on Evri’s database structure or function.
  • Installing and upgrading database software to ensure that it is compatible with current technology standards.
  • Developing or testing new database applications where needed.
  • Writing custom scripts to automate routine tasks.
  • Troubleshooting database issues and providing resolution within SLAs

Your Experience:

  • At least 10 years in a DBA role covering at least 2 of the following:
  • Oracle
  • MYSQL
  • PostgreSQL
  • Must have experience administering cloud-based database solutions, preferably Amazon RDS
  • ITIL framework experience.
  • Project lifecycle experience.
  • SQL Scripting exposure.
  • Linux O/S basic knowledge
  • GDPR exposure
  • Train and support other DBAs in AWS RDS
  • Large database (>2TB) maintenance experience
  • Database replication and high availability for cloud solutions
  • Experience with database development, and implementation in cloud technologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
  • Service Now preferable
  • Confluence preferable
  • Agile/ Kanban working knowledge
  • Database monitoring tools such as OEM, Foglight, AppDynamics, CloudWatch
