The Ford Purchasing team adds critical value to the entire organization. You’ll help us source the highest quality parts and services from around the globe while ensuring optimal cost and on-time delivery. You’ll also contribute to establishing a robust supply chain so that we can continually produce the vehicles our customers want. **
Responsibilities**
In this position...
You will work as an Aluminum Buyer for flat roll sheet, blanks and tubes:
- Work with major aluminum mills to source $100's of Millions in new business for Ford's AIV (Aluminum Intensive Vehicles) such as teh F-150, Super Duty and Navigator.
- Will also be responsible for sourcing aluminum on non-AIV vehicles, hoods, doors and tailgates.
- Work close with Ford Stamping Business Unit (SBU)to ensure on time delivery of materials.
- Ensure suppliers meet Quality, Cost and Delivery objectives.
- Develop new sources for aluminum sheet, blanks and tubes.
- Manage and Support Aluminum Resale Tier 1's and SBU during shortages.
What You'll Do...
Negotiate Aluminum Contracts for sheet and tube.
Find and implement cost savings ideas.
Lead supply risk discussions to prevent shortages.
Source aluminum for new vehicle programs 12-18 months prior to Job 1.
Work cross functionally with PD, STA, Finance and other Purchasing organization to collaborate and resolve payment issues, material claims, lump sums, quality concerns, alternate material, etc..
Collaborate with the FBS team to ensure quarterly CRU updates are performed and annual aluminum audits are completed.
Work with Ford of Mexico customs team to ensure legal requirements are met and to limit tariff burden and ensure USMCA compliance is met as required.
Work with Ford METS team to identify new qualified sources.
Educate and advocate cross functionally about the benefits of Ford Aluminum. Resale both internally and externally.
Support and close out all commercial items pertaining to payment issues, material claims, & custom and border crossing problems.
Deliver the Ford+ Plan. **
Qualifications**
You'll have...
- Bachelors Degree.
- 5+ years of experience with purchasing Aluminum resources.
- Strong analytical skills (sourcing evaluations, business case studies).
- Negotiation skills (crafting leverage in both offensive and defensive situations).
- Strategic mentality and the ability to see the bigger picture.
- Be a self-starter/ motivated and be able to work independently.
- Customs / tax knowledge desirable.
