Our client, a leading Canadian telecommunications company, is in need of an experienced User Interface Designer for a long-term, fully remote contract, working on their customer self-service portals, and mobile apps.
This is an initial 2-year contract, with the potential for up to 3 years of additional extensions.
This role is fully remote and can be performed from anywhere in Canada. No visits to the client's office are expected.
Responsibilities:
Providing industry trends, design thinking, and best practice guidance on visual designs
The UI Designer will design new features for the client's self-serve platforms (eCommerce, self-management portals, and mobile app)
Working closely with the User Experience and digital teams on visual design for complex interface flows
Incorporate corporate standards and industry best practices into solution design
Develop high-fidelity visual designs for digital assets
Identify the scope of work and provide estimates for User Experience (UX) and User Interaction (UI) activities
Participate in and lead design reviews from a UI perspective
Deliver designs from concept through to development
Understanding functional capabilities of Frontend design and developing modular visual designs to support the tech team during the implementation phase
Utilizing style guides containing several different styles and visual themes for designs
Ensuring consistency across visual design systems
Ensuring Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are applied to visual designs
Identify the scope of work and provide estimates for any visual design activities
Maintain UI professional development and certifications (as appropriate)
Qualifications:
2+ years experience as a Designer, UI designer, or similar role
Proven experience as a Visual Designer, with a portfolio showcasing your work (i.e.: logos, animations, visual designs, graphics) and demonstrating design thinking skills
Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Invision, etc.
Advanced understanding of self-serve and eCommerce websites and mobile apps
Advanced experience with user interface design for digital assets (website, e-commerce platforms, self-management platforms)
Experience with user interface guidelines and typical conventions for iPhone, Android, and Windows Phone
Team player, excellent communication skills and ability to multi-task
Strong aesthetic skills with the ability to combine various colors, fonts, and layouts
Strong attention to visual details
Experience with Agile projects
Familiarity with User Experience and User Interaction design is considered a strong asset
Familiarity with the telecommunications industry is considered an asset
Familiarity with self-serve flows, eCommerce websites, self-management portals, and mobile apps
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in graphic design, arts, fine arts, computer science or similar field is required
User interaction design training and/or certification an asset
