Job description

Job Title: Tax Senior (fully remote) 

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Company Overview: We are a well-established CPA firm with over 150 employees and a prominent presence in Los Angeles, spanning four strategic locations. As a leading provider of comprehensive tax, accounting, and advisory services, we are seeking a dynamic and skilled Tax Senior to join our team.

Key Competencies:

  1. Tax Compliance and Review:

    • Prepare HRIS and Axcess timesheets, Excel To-Do lists, and other relevant documentation.
    • Achieve monthly and annual charge hour goals through efficient and accurate tax preparation and review.
    • Review Form 1099s, sales tax returns, business property statements, and business licenses to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  2. Tax Return Review:

    • Review intermediate-level C-Corporation, Partnership, S-Corporation, Personal, Non-Profit, and Trust tax returns.
    • Engage in Corporate and Personal tax planning, providing valuable insights to clients.
  3. Organizational Management:

    • Manage and maintain control lists and deadlines, ensuring timely filing and reporting.
    • Assist in tax audits and support planning and supervision of compilation, review, and audit engagements.
  4. Leadership and Training:

    • Participate in mentoring programs, offering guidance and support to junior staff members.
    • Facilitate in-house training sessions and meetings, providing one-on-one feedback to enhance team skills.
  5. Client Interaction:

    • Communicate and meet with clients regarding current services, assisting with new client proposals and initial engagement meetings.
    • Participate in firm recruiting events and outreach activities aimed at attracting future clients.
  6. Billing Process:

    • Assist in the billing process by analyzing Work in Progress (WIP) and providing accurate invoice totals.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  1. Tax Expertise:

    • Solid understanding of tax form schedules, entity type setup, formation and dissolution, retirement plan options, foreign entity reporting, section 1031 exchanges, basic foreign/multistate returns, POL, PAC, LM2 tax returns, and specialized tax credits.
  2. Continued Education:

    • Actively participate in intermediate/advanced continued education and contribute to the development of in-house training courses.
  3. Research and Software Proficiency:

    • Ability to conduct intermediate individualized research.
    • Familiarity with accounting-related software, including CFS, AME, CSA, QuickBooks, T-value, Adobe Acrobat, Prosystems Engagement, Checkpoint Tools, and Axcess Tax.
  4. Technology and Communication:

    • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
