Job description

Distribution Planning Manager

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for meeting regulatory requirements applicable to distribution planning and for implementing regulatory strategies necessary to meet the Company's distribution planning objectives. Responsible for directing the performance of simulations and analyses that support (i) cost-effective expansion of SDGE's distribution grid, and (ii) other objectives of the Company as permitted by applicable rules and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for drafting testimony and appearing as a Company witness in key distribution cases before the CPUC, CEC, FERC and the CAISO.
  • Direct the performance of simulations and analyses supporting grid expansion.
  • Direct the performance of economic simulations and analyses that support other objectives of the Company (as permitted by applicable rules and regulations that separate distribution functions from merchant functions).
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements that apply to SDGE's distribution planning function.
  • Develop and implement regulatory strategies that support SDGE's distribution planning objectives.
  • Coordinate regulatory work with affected departments throughout the Company.
  • Point person for technical inquiries related to analyses performed in support of distribution planning activities and the Company's other economic objectives as appropriate.
  • Respond to data requests applicable to SDGE's distribution planning activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or Professional Engineer (PE) certification in addition to five (5) years of engineering experience or an Advanced degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • 10 years - A minimum of five years of engineering experience is required. Emphasis in Electrical, Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineer is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in cost/benefit analysis and a understanding of regulatory processes.
  • Understanding of economic analysis including combined production cost/power-flow simulation techniques.
  • Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
  • We offer a hybrid work environment. Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow you to work from the office two to three days per week and work remotely on the remaining workdays.
