Job description

Account Manager - Painting & Decorating Products 

Area: M62 corridor

We are currently seeking a skilled and passionate Technical Account Manager to join our client who specialise in Painting & Decorating Products. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic field-based position, conducting property inspections, surveys, and delivering training. With a focus on promoting a range of high-quality epoxy resins and fillers for wood repair, you will be responsible for providing technical guidance to contractors, applicators, and consultants in the painting and construction industries. Utilizing their in-house CRM system, you will meticulously report your inspection findings and contribute to the training of new team members. As a key contributor to our success, you will collaborate closely with our dedicated Specification Account Manager, covering the same geographical area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site/property inspections, surveys, and training sessions
  • Promote and showcase a leading range of epoxy resins and fillers for wood repair
  • Provide technical and practical expertise to contractors and applicators
  • Maintain accurate and detailed reports using our CRM system
  • Deliver CPD presentations
  • Collaborate effectively with the Specification Account Manager
  • Manage projects with values up to £15,000, averaging around £5,000 per order

The Requirements of the Technical Account Manager:

  • Proven field sales experience in the painting/decorating industry or a closely related field
  • Alternatively, practical experience in the industry with no sales background will be considered
  • Physically fit and comfortable working on scaffolding
  • Proficient in product demonstrations (e.g., ability to paint a wall)
  • Excellent mentoring and training abilities
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and delivering engaging presentations
  • Specialized practical and commercial knowledge in repairing timber and joinery products
  • Resilient and adaptable personality
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships
  • Ideally familiar with paint systems applied to the timber market
  • Flexible and open-minded approach to work
  • Customer service-oriented with a positive and inspiring attitude
  • Team player comfortable working within a collaborative "buddy system"


The Candidate
Ideally you will have experience in demonstrating or training construction or technical products to customers.
You could be an ex Contracts Manager / worked for a Decorating Contractor.
Carpenters or Joiners as well as working lectures / teachers will also be considered.
Area Sales Managers', Technical Sales Managers', Account Managers' Territory Account Managers' within the construction industry that have demonstrated equipment are encouraged to apply.
