Position Overview

As an Insurance Business Analyst, your role will be to bridge the gap between business needs and
technology solutions within an organization. You will collaborate with stakeholders from
different departments, including business users, project managers, developers, and
quality assurance teams, to gather, analyze, and document requirements. Your expertise
will be crucial in identifying and recommending business process improvements and
facilitating the successful delivery of software development projects. You will also be
responsible for ensuring that the implemented solutions align with business objectives
and meet the needs of end-users.

Key Responsibilities

1. Requirements Gathering and Analysis:

➢ Conduct interviews, workshops, and surveys to elicit and understand business
needs.
➢ Collaborate with stakeholders to define and document functional and non-
functional requirements.
➢ Analyze and evaluate existing business processes, systems, and workflows.
➢ Identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for process improvements.
➢ Prioritize and manage requirements, ensuring clarity, completeness, and
feasibility.

2. Solution Design and Documentation:

➢ Create detailed and comprehensive business requirement documents (BRDs) and
functional requirement documents (FRDs).
➢ Develop use cases, process flow diagrams, and wireframes to illustrate
requirements and system behavior.
➢ Collaborate with development teams to design and review technical
specifications.
➢ Ensure that requirements are clearly communicated and understood by all
stakeholders.
➢ Validate and verify requirements through reviews, walkthroughs, and sign-offs.

3. Stakeholder Management:

➢ Build strong relationships and facilitate effective communication with business
stakeholders.
➢ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and shared
understanding.
➢ Manage and resolve conflicts, ensuring consensus and agreement on
requirements.
➢ Serve as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, providing insights and
recommendations.
➢ Act as a liaison between business users and technical teams, translating business
needs into technical requirements.

4. Project Management Support:

➢ Support project managers in defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
➢ Assist in project planning, estimation, and resource allocation.
➢ Monitor project progress, identify risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
➢ Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure that solutions meet
business requirements.
➢ Support change management activities, including training and user adoption.

5. JIRA Proficiency and Software Development Projects:

➢ Utilize JIRA or similar project management tools to track and manage
requirements, tasks, and project artifacts.
➢ Collaborate with development teams to define and manage project backlogs and
sprints.
➢ Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and
retrospectives.
➢ Work closely with software developers to ensure that requirements are
effectively translated into technical solutions.
➢ Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and experience working
on software development projects.

6. Continuous Improvement:
➢ Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies
in business analysis.
➢ Proactively identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
➢ Participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute to organizational
knowledge sharing.

7. Test Design and Execution:
➢ Design, develop, and execute test cases, scripts, and scenarios.
➢ Perform functional, integration, regression, and performance testing.
➢ Automate test cases using appropriate tools and frameworks.
➢ Conduct exploratory testing to uncover hidden defects.

8. Defect Management and Reporting:
➢ Identify, document, and track defects using bug tracking systems.
➢ Conduct root cause analysis and work with development teams to resolve issues.
➢ Provide clear and detailed reports on test execution progress and results.
➢ Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding quality issues and
resolutions.

Qualifications
➢ Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field (or
equivalent experience).
➢ Proven experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar role.
➢ Strong knowledge of business analysis methodologies, tools, and techniques.
➢ Experience in gathering and documenting requirements using industry-standard
techniques.
➢ Proficiency in using tools such as Microsoft Visio, JIRA, or similar for process modeling
and requirements management.
➢ Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and waterfall project management methodologies.
➢ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
➢ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively
with stakeholders at all levels.
➢ Ability to facilitate meetings, workshops, and interviews to gather information and drive
consensus.
➢ Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and
