BACKGROUND:
The National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) is the leading national voice for dignity and fairness for domestic workers in the United States. Founded in 2007, NDWA works for the respect, recognition, and inclusion in labor protections of domestic and home care workers across the country. NDWA is winning improved working conditions while building a powerful
movement rooted in the human rights, dignity and equality of domestic workers, home care workers, immigrant women, and Black women.
NDWA was founded in 2007 by domestic workers and organizers from around the country. Our national alliance has grown from this founding group of 13 organizations to now more than 70 affiliate organizations, and local chapters developed by NDWA. To date, the Alliance comprises more than 250,000 nannies, housekeepers, and home care workers in all 50 states.
Position Summary:
NDWA was founded in 2007 by 13 local domestic worker organizing projects. As of 2023, the alliance has grown to include 76 local affiliate organizations and chapters, and a base of thousands of individual workers who have joined NDWA directly. We are building a mass base of childcare workers, housecleaners, and home care workers, including workers who are connected to local organizations as well as others who are in places where there is no local organization for them to join. NDWA is the home for all domestic workers in the U.S. to work together toward a shared vision of dignity and respect for all domestic workers, and for an economy and a democracy that work for us all.
Since domestic workers work in isolation, behind closed doors and in private homes, much of our domestic worker outreach, worker communications and programming is conducted using digital tools.
With fewer people reachable by landline, and more people spending time online, the success of modern campaigns and organizing efforts depends on our ability to reach our audiences on mobile devices, through social media, and across other relevant online platforms.
The Senior Digital Care Campaigns Manager’s role is key to advancing domestic worker activation and engagement through direct communication with localized audiences via our digital tools and the creation of both evergreen and timely digital content.
The Manager’s role will be to enhance the effectiveness of our digital output for our statewide and federal campaigns, specifically campaigns to increase public investment in home care and child care jobs, transform home care and child care delivery systems, and deepen our relationships with child care and home care workers online to move them towards engaging with us in deeper ways.
