JOB TITLE: Insight Manager

Overview of the role:

The Insight Manager supports the HQ Led CPG EMEA team and the Client Account Director to effectively deliver high quality insights and business solutions which deliver high levels of client satisfaction, senior engagement and recognition that Circana is a strategic insight provider, which in turn contributes to our revenue targets. This person is the first point of contact for the client on day-to-day insight and thought leadership topics. With this in mind, the Insight Manager needs to deploy analytical thinking whilst developing a compelling insight point of view, presenting them in a professional manner. It is essential that this person presents themself as an approachable, flexible partner whilst conveying confidence and commercial and contractual business acumen. This is a role where you will required to collaborate and work effectively with up to 11 countries insight teams and other thought leadership stakeholders to ensure that we deliver on time and correct to the client brief having brought the actions they need to take to life through compelling story telling and fact based data points. This role will require someone with strong project management discipline to ensure that scoping documentation, project plans and key milestones are documented, being monitored and adhered to. It will also require someone with presence and gravitas to guide internal and external stakeholders to ensure that they are clear on and delivering to the required expectations. This person should be able to manage, manipulate and transform big data in the most effective way to answer client business led insight questions, and to articulate how other solutions may be complementary in helping them further address their business objectives.

Main role responsibilities:

  • Listening and seeking to fully understand the client’s key objectives and business issues in order to create and mutually sign off a scope of work that will guide the project content, milestones and expectations, so that Circana can play a strategic role in helping the client meet these objectives
  • Works closely with Circana teams in all countries to understand their data, market nuances, brands trends, existing insights created locally and be able to
    • Create the template needed to effectively collect information in a consistent manner to create multi country analysis using local data,
    • Consistently partner with local teams to collect locally produced presentations, Circana thought leadership and any other sources of data to provide a compelling insight story, Circana point of view, fact-based reasons for strategic and tactical recommended actions to drive growth, mitigate competitor risks and or address the issues highlighted in the insight brief and/or to populate the insight portal
    • Recognizes that flexibility may be needed to effectively manage a vague and changing client brief to ensure that any changes are managed and logged professionally with any implications regarding time or cost being documented and shared before the changes are implemented
    • the discipline required to uphold the client agreed ways of working, the Circana insight process and insight standards for yourself and for those participating in the project
    • Has the ability to directly challenge or facilitate a conversation regarding the status quo, methodology, or approach, internally and externally to ensure the optimum path forward
    • Identifies and escalate internally any risk that could hinder the project, timeliness or quality so that any intervention can take place to course correct the situation or find out what has to be true to get the project back on track
  • Develops and leverages strong, collaborative relationships with external client stakeholders and where appropriate 3rd parties and internal stakeholders to ensure Circana provides a competent response to the brief on time, correct and in full
  • Extract data as necessary and creates/ maintains highly analytical business performance KPI/reports/dashboards to aid the client with identifying the key business issues to be addressed
  • Ability to take client questions, and identify the optimal data & associated visualizations to answer those questions in the most compelling way
  • Coordinates and executes high quality on-going analytic and ad-hoc requests in a timely manner
  • Capability to show how Circana Solutions can help the client to harness big data and turn it into insight – eg to enable self-serve and promote the Circana capabilities and create growth opportunities for Circana (filling the matrix)
  • Partner with Account Director to leverage insight and thought leadership to expand our interaction and engagement with a broader set of client stakeholders across all client’s business verticals
  • Work closely with the global account manager and internal teams to develop Circana revenue and meet annual revenue targets
  • Travel to client locations as requested for insights, thought leadership or account management meetings
  • Ability to onboard new client stakeholders regarding the Circana data available and the insight program we offer

Skills and Experience required:

  • Able to engage in a consultative and confident manner with clients when helping solve/manage/discuss questions, issues and insights briefs, story boards etc
  • Demonstrated resilience and sound judgment in dealing with business and corporate challenges, problem solving effectively and positively
  • Ideally will have fluency in French language and strong working knowledge of French cultures and ways of working
  • Fluency in written and spoken English to work across global teams across client and internally.
  • First class communication, documentation, prioritization, organization and project management disciplines
  • The ability to robustly respond and challenge during difficult conversations
  • A strong ability to multitask and problem solve
  • Holds themselves to account and fully compliant with Circana’s behaviors, processes, clients ways of working, team instructions, internal systems such as expenses, corporate policies and meets deadlines on performance management processes
  • Building client satisfaction and becoming part of the clients trusted team of advisors
  • Ability to build and leverage trusted and mutually beneficial relationships and networks internally and externally eg clients chosen 3rd parties
  • Advanced technology skills, particularly Excel such as pivot tables, lookup and other formulas (must) and macros (ideal)
  • Demonstrated capability in applied statistics (ie. handing data to answer insight questions)
  • Ability to effectively work with virtual and diverse teams
  • Displays a professional presence, ability to hear, understand and respond to another’s point of view in a thoughtful, inclusive, respectful, empathetic and appropriate way
  • Escalates issues to the right people appropriately and in a timely manner protecting Circana at all times
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the FMCG industry, key trends and performance across categories, channels, and retailers
  • Ability to defend and challenge relevant processes to maximise chance of success
  • Demonstrates a hunger for results and strong commercial acumen
