Your Opportunity + Impact
The Geotechnical Engineer functions as a technical leader and is required to have a Professional Engineer (PE) license and commensurate work experience. This position will function as an independent engineer capable of completing most technical tasks with little supervision and will monitor task budgets. The Geotechnical Engineer will coordinate overall design activities, have increased client interactions, and will be responsible for additional Quality Assurance and Quality Control duties to help ensure the final product meets the technical requirements and goals of the client. The Geotech Engineer will work closely with our existing staff to both complete existing projects and expand the service workload.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs independent planning and design tasks, reviews work of others, prepares design documents and reports, and successfully delivers projects to completion.
- Has experience with technically complex projects.
- Possesses knowledge of codes and standards applicable to design of projects.
- Maintains collaborative inter-departmental and cross functional working relationships with members of the project team.
- Performs final QA/QC review of project submissions.
- Develops schedules, technical proposals, and labor hour estimates.
- Works closely with clients and project teams to effectively describe and deliver scope of work.
- Performs field, sample collection, and laboratory coordination tasks as needed.
- Supervises field and junior staff on larger projects as directed.
- Promotes, utilizes, and supports quality assurance and quality control processes to improve the quality of deliverables and reduce design errors & omissions.
- Performs and checks design calculations, technical specifications, and prepares cost estimates.
- Performs calculations such as stability analysis, bearing capacity, settlement, pile/drilled shaft capacity, micro-pile design, soil nail design, etc. with minimal oversight.
- Develops and maintains design budgets for routine scopes of work.
Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a relevant Engineering field from ABET accredited school, Geotechnical concentration strongly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years’ job-related experience.
- Licensure/Certification: Professional Engineer (PE) required. PA preferred or ability to obtain.
- Must have the ability to quickly review, understand, and resolve complex design and construction related issues.
- Proficiency with Slide, LPILE, GRLWEAP, SNAIL, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation/InRoads, and other pertinent software programs to be used for geotechnical design and/or other discipline-specific programs preferred.
