The Anchor Engineer will work within a Product Driven Organization (PDO) structure that uses small, cross-functional teams to develop analytic applications. In this role, you will also serve as the "Technical Lead" assisting in providing technical leadership through technical direction and support. Role will be to closely assist multiple organizations (Business Customers, Product Owners, GDIA, IT) with the conversion of business goals into product requirements and developing solutions.

Operations Analytics (OA) is a product group that develops on-premises analytic solutions. This Software Engineer position is ideal for the technically oriented individual who has experience designing, building, deploying and supporting cloud applications and is interested in working with a portfolio of strategic analytic solutions. **

In this position...**

You will collaborate with multiple organizations (Business Customers, Product Owners, Data Tech, IT) to convert business goals into analytic solutions. This role will work in small, cross functional teams and embrace lean and agile practices, software best practices, software quality scanning, automated testing, and CI/CD. The Anchor Engineer will work in a Hybrid Work model with an estimated 2 days/ week onsite in our Dearborn, MI location. **

Responsibilities**

What you'll do...

Work on a PDO Team and collaborate with the Product Manager, Product Designer and other Software Engineers to deliver analytic applications. The Software Engineer will be responsible for the development and ongoing support/maintenance of the analytic applications.

  • PRODUCT AND REQUIREMENTS MANAGEMENT: Participate in and/or lead development of use cases, requirements, test cases, epics, sub-epics, features, user stories, and tasks.
  • AUTHOR: Process and Design Documents
  • DESIGN/DEVELOP/TEST/DEPLOY: Work with the Business Customer, Product Owner, Architects, Product Designer and other Software Engineers on application design, development and deployment of applications and data products. Participate in daily stand-up meetings.
  • OPERATIONS: Generate Metrics, Perform User Access Authorization, Perform Password Maintenance, Perform SharePoint Administration. Participate in daily operations meetings.
  • INCIDENT, PROBLEM AND CHANGE/SERVICE REQUESTS: Participate and/or lead incident, problem, change and service request related activities. Includes root cause analysis (RCA). Includes proactive problem management / defect prevention activities.
  • Use ITConnect (BMC) and Webex Team Daily.

Qualifications

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field or a combination of education and equivalent work experience
  • 2 + years of experience with Python
  • 5 + years of experience with a mix of backend and front-End software development preferably using:
    • Python
    • Development environments Eclipse or similar tooling
    • Web front end development including JavaScript, Angular, React or similar..
    • Develop REST based microservices using Spring, SpringBoot, SpringCloud, SpringListener, SpringMVC, JavaScript, HTML, XML, JUNITS
  • 1+ years of experience working with cloud environments such as GCP, Pivotal Cloud Foundary (PCF), OpenShift, Docker/Kubernetes or similar.

Even better, you may have...

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Cloud, container image development and container orchestration including GCP, Pivotal Cloud Foundary (PCF), OpenShift, Docker/Kubernetes
  • Data Manipulation including SQL data manipulation (Relational and NoSQL),
  • Products (relational) including SQL Server, Teradata, Oracle
  • Products (big data) including GCP, Hadoop and other Products (streaming) including Kafka and MQTT
  • Experience with build tools such as GitHub, Build Tools like Tekton, Jenkins, GRADLE
  • Be a Self-starter / self-directed – able to work independently and take initiative
  • Critical Thinking and Strong Root Cause Analysis
  • Process improvement – able to identify areas of improvement (process, performance, communication, collaboration, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skill
  • Ability to multitask and manage changing priorities.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
