Your missions

TDC Specialty Insurance (TDCSI) provides specialized insurance programs to healthcare providers, institutions, and organizations, primarily on an Excess & Surplus lines basis. More specifically, TDCSI offers professional, management and products liability insurance and services to hospitals, long term care facilities, non-hospital medical facilities, E&S physician groups, managed care organizations and life sciences companies. TDCSI is a member of The Doctors Company Group. Admitted capability is also offered where applicable to market need.

TDCSI is currently seeking Business Development candidates to support the expansion of its business.

This is an in-office or remote opportunity depending on the final candidate’s distance from the company's office is Unionville, CT. **

Responsibilities**

Working under the general supervision of SVP Business Development and acting within authority appropriate to this position, the VP/AVP of Business Development is expected to:

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with new brokers and source new business opportunities from current brokers
  • Develop relationships with senior leaders of brokerage houses
  • Know our business/underwriting strategies intimately and articulate the TDCSI value proposition with utmost clarity
  • Be the spokespeople with broker and insured communities to promote TDCSI brand identity in the market
  • Coordinate sales and marketing efforts with underwriters and lead marketing campaigns and broker events
  • Proactively troubleshoot problems and difficult situations with individual brokers
  • Actively embrace a positive team culture to leverage TDCSI values and to generate enthusiasm in achieving goals
  • Participate, taking leadership roles where possible, at trade shows, industry events and conferences demonstrating TDCSI’s thought leadership position
  • Utilize technical skills to develop and deliver healthcare system, insurance and product training to TDCSI employees; as well as to identified broker partners
  • Participate in product research, development and maintenance to assist in assuring TDCSI product designs are technically responsible and market responsive
  • Provide technical advice and support regarding legal and claims related matters upon request or where appropriate to enhance analysis and decision-making
  • Partner with underwriters and underwriting segment leaders to assure broker experiences with TDCSI result in a high level of satisfaction

Requirements

A minimum of 7 years specialty lines experience in insurance business development with some exposure to underwriting, claims and/or legal

Demonstrated track record with industry speaking engagements, panels and collaboration with technically influential colleagues

Proficiency with Excel and Word. As well as demonstrated aptitude with Windows based operating systems

Acceptance of travel responsibilities which represent ~50% of time visiting TDCSI broker partners and industry events. Regional and National travel required.
