We are seeking our next Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Theriogenology (Clinical or Tenure Track). This is a tenure-track or clinical-track faculty position in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences with a concurrent appointment to the professional staff of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. As a Theriogenologist, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with a team of other academic specialists to practice high quality small animal and equine reproductive medicine while teaching veterinary students and training residents. There is a rich environment of scholarly activity to pursue biomedical and clinical research.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a team and conduct innovative and collaborative research. In addition, the candidate will  participate in the clinical, didactic and tutorial instructional programs of the School of Veterinary Medicine; cooperate with other faculty members in the development of teaching programs, visual aids and other instructional materials; participate in the school's Theriogenology service of the VTH; cooperate with other clinical faculty in the clinical and hospital practice; support the Theriogenology emergency duty service; participate in the continuing education and public relations programs.

The VCS Department is responsible for providing mentorship and guidance for over 55 faculty members in all areas of clinical medicine, surgery and research expertise. The goals of the department are to create and environment in which young and experienced faculty can be creative and innovative and progress in their clinical and research pursuits.

Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Theriogenology (Clinical Track).

80% Participate in the clinical, didactic and tutorial instructional programs of the School of Veterinary Medicine; cooperate with other faculty members in the development of teaching programs, visual aids and other instructional materials; participate in the school's Theriogenology service of the VTH; cooperate with other clinical faculty in the clinical and hospital practice; support the Theriogenology emergency duty service; participate in the continuing education and public relations programs. Primary clinical emphasis is equine and canine. Knowledge and skills in other species and of assisted reproductive technologies is required.

10% Collaborative research opportunities exist within the Department and other local research centers. Animal resources and intramural funding opportunities exist as a collaborative investigator. 

10% Service on committees within the Department of Veterinary Clinical, the School of Veterinary Medicine and LSU is expected. Also, this includes other duties as assigned.

70% Participate in the clinical, didactic and tutorial instructional programs of the School of Veterinary Medicine; cooperate with other faculty members in the development of teaching programs, visual aids and other instructional materials; participate in the school's and university's research program as a team leader and member; participate in and help with cooperative supervision of the Theriogenology service of the VTH; cooperate with other clinical faculty in the clinical and hospital practice; support the Theriogenology emergency duty service; participate in the continuing education and public relations programs. Primary clinical emphasis is equine and canine. Knowledge and skills in other species and of assisted reproductive technologies is required.

20% Independent and collaborative research opportunities exist with other local research centers. Animal resources and intramural funding opportunities are substantial, and Louisiana is home to vibrant Thoroughbred and Quarter horse racing industries. 

10% Service on committees within the Department of Veterinary Clinical, the School of Veterinary Medicine and LSU is expected. Also, this includes other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (All Levels):

Assistant Professor: DVM degree or Equivalent degree to a DVM, which includes but not limited to, BVSc, LV, MVM.

Specific experience: Completed an accredited Theriogenology Residency program (ACT) and eligible to sit for the Board Exam

Preferred Qualifications: PhD with 1-2 years of experience

Specific experience: Board certification  by the American College of Theriogenologists. Experience in clinical investigation and/or team research experience as faculty at an academic institution

Associate Professor: DVM or Equivalent degree to a DVM, which includes but not limited to, BVSc, LV, MVM with a minimum 5 years of experience

Specific experience: Completed an accredited Theriogenology Residency program (ACT) and eligible to sit for the Board Exam

Preferred Qualifications: PhD with 3-5 years of experience

Specific experience: Board certification  by the American College of Theriogenologists. Experience in clinical investigation and/or team research experience as faculty at an academic institution

Professor: DVM or Equivalent degree to a DVM, which includes but not limited to, BVSc, LV, MVM with a minimum 8 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications: PhD with 3-5 years of experience

Specific experience: Board certification  by the American College of Theriogenologists. Experience in clinical investigation and/or team research experience as faculty at an academic institution

Minimum Certifications/Licenses (ALL LEVELS):

Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine
CDS Pharmacy License
DEA license

Special or Physical Qualifications (ALL LEVELS):

May be required to come in after hours, on weekends or holidays. Availability to work 8-10 hour shifts. 

Per PS 18- This position is a part of the Emergency Response Personnel - these personnel are linked with the hospital during any emergency response event and are expected to report in and perform as outlined in the emergency response plan.

Required to be capable of lifting more than 50 pounds, standing, sitting and walking for prolonged periods, able to reach above and below the shoulder, vision (far sight), vision (near sight), kneel or sit on the floor, bending, push/ pulling, grasping, and/or squatting.

*Due to the nature of this position and/or responsibilities, this position is subject to random drug & alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67*

Vehicle Operation - University employees whose principal responsibilities of employment include operating a vehicle, performing maintenance on a vehicle, or supervising any public employee who operates or maintains a vehicle and positions with an expectation to travel will require an MVR and are subject to drug screens per PM-33/PS-67/FASOP HR-04. A valid Driver's License is required.

FERPA - As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality. Minor Contact - This position and/or position's responsibilities require work directly with minors. Finger printing and National Sex Offender Registry check required per FASOP HR-04.
